Can’t beat someone who knows how to sing.
I am unearthing this blog from underneath the crap it has been resting under for the last 11 months and no doubt to your undeniable joy, I will document all the sewing/chocolate consumption and other minutae of my life.
Maybe it’ll give me something to focus on.
well it would be if i could link from flickr to wordpress, goddamn taking up my whole day trying to work this out.
I am not sure if wordpress works properly on my iPhone. or should I say from my iPhone.
facebook and Twitter and now tumblr have been taking my copious amounts of time. sewing has been done and posts have been written , but it seems they don’t post!
am cranking this old thing back up, lots of new ideas, commissions and proof I have a life need to be posted 🙂
I did do the Macmillan fair in Sept. No pictures but I made small zipped purses, small and medium buttoned purses, cotton shoppers, cotton duck totes, one handbag. It was very successful and my first foray into selling.
As a result of people seeing my stuff, a local lady contacted me with a commission – tiny PVC fabric gift bags that she could embellish, I got 96 out of the fabric she gave me! Can’t say that PVC is my favourite material, just glad I had a Teflon sewing foot. I also started making some little fabric flower brooches, some I will attach to bags, some will be solo! I plan to make enough items to put in my etsy shop but also plan a little ‘at home’ party late Nov to sell my bags to friends (who have requested this , I’m not that pushy!).
All through the summer holidays I have been thinking about sewing, just thinking and no doing. I plan to do a stall for a Macmillan day in Sept but so far I have sewn nothing. Nada.
Yesterday I got a bit of groove on and made myself an iPhone cosy. Like a tea pot cosy but for the iPhone 🙂
There is still work to be done, getting the sizing right, the fastening, ease of use etc but it it’s a start and gets the creative juices flowing. It’s just do damn hard to look after 3 kids of 10, 7 & 3 all day trying not to resort to full time computer or tv when they all want to do different things that involve me requiring eyes in the back of my head. We have not had to phone the police or go to A&E so far do I consider it a success.
I am still figuring out the iPhone, am posting this from it in fact, I almost do without the laptop now, it really is a lot more than a phone, sigh.
a bit late I know, but now I don’t store photos on my laptop hard drive I am far too lazy to go and get my portable harddrive and plug it in.
these pics were stored on a memory stick.
As usual I left the bags til the last minute, but I enjoyed making them – especially the ones I had saved the material for. For ages.
The shoulder bag is Oh Franssons Margaret Bag, I lengthened the straps slightly, as I used deco weight fabric I did not use interfacing – my machine could only just about cope with the layers as it was – cotton lining finished them off and they were good to go. It is a lovely design and is so easy to make yet looks fantastic.
The shopper is a mix of designs I have used, it’s a perfect size and the handle really works for me – 2 handles are not my thing on shoppers – too much fuss. I need to figure out a way to put a pocket it can fold into on, then it’ll be my goto shopper pattern.
